CAREER OPPORTUNITIES AT THE HUB:
Executive Director Community & Crisis Care Coordinator

Celebrating 5 Years of Impactful Service: The Philipstown Behavioral Health Hub!

This Fall, we will celebrate five years of dedicated and impactful work within the Philipstown community and its neighboring areas. Our mission has been to support individuals facing mental health or substance use challenges. As the trusted “system navigator,” we’ve connected countless people to providers, resources, and vital services. Additionally, our advocacy, awareness, and education initiatives have made a lasting difference.

Now, as we at “The Hub” look back on what has been accomplished, we also loo forward to new opportunities and even greater levels of service to you.

  • In June, we will celebrate opening a second service location – new, additional space for the programs and partnerships to come. Stay tuned to our website for updates!

  • We welcome new members of our Board of Directors, our all-volunteer governing body. They will join with members who have been with us since our founding in 2019 to continue our important work.

  • We have created and launched a new Advisory Board, which has already started to work.  The Advisory Board is a group of individuals volunteering to assist The Hub with fundraising, events, mental health and substance abuse expertise, and much more.

  • We have initiated a search to fill two staff positions.  If you know someone who may be qualified, please feel free to share this information!

So, what have we done since the Fall of 2019?

  • Under the leadership of the founding Executive Director, Danielle Patrick McCarthy, and the original Board of Directors, The Hub launched, established a strong relationship with local community leaders, and opened its office in Cold Spring.

  • Since July 1, 2020, The Hub has been contacted more than 14,150 times regarding mental health or substance abuse challenges or relevant information – an average of more than 14 contacts per business day.

  • The Hub has led or participated in numerous activities at local schools (Haldane and Garrison), including Narcan trainings and anti-bullying events.

  • The Hub has provided referrals – and support – for participants to numerous providers, including providers of animal and art therapy.

  • Since 2020, The Hub has coordinated numerous Narcan trainings at the Hub, local schools, organizations, and businesses to ensure that members of our community have Narcan and are trained.

  • The Hub has provided resource support for local groups, such as the Learning Differences Committee, the Haldane School Foundation, and the Parents of Children with Anxiety Support Group.

  • In September 2022, The Hub established the annual 5K Run on Labor Day Weekend which has included hundreds of participants (of all ages) and will continue this year!

  • Since 2020, The Hub has coordinated the local commemoration of lost loved ones on International Overdose Awareness Day in Cold Spring, featuring the powerful luminaria.

  • Singer-songwriter Dar Williams is a strong supporter of The Hub. She has headlined wonderful concerts supporting The Hub and its work, including Narcan training.

  • Since 2021, The Hub has partnered with Hudson Valley Paws For A Cause, bringing emotional support dogs and their registered Red Cross volunteer therapy handlers to The Hub and Hub events.

  • From 2022 to 2023, The Hub held “Senior Community Conversations”, which took place at the Philipstown Friendship Center amongst Center participants.

  • Partnering in 2022 with Cornell Cooperative Extension, Philipstown Aging At Home, and the Philipstown Food Pantry, The Hub developed the Philipstown Cares Community Survey to assess issues of food insecurity within the community. Interested participants reached out to the Hub for information and community resources.

Operating efficiently on a modest budget during these initial years, The Hub has received numerous grants supporting various programs and initiatives, generous support from the Town of Philipstown and the Village of Cold Spring, sponsorships and donations from local businesses, and funds from individual donors.

As we approach the end of our fifth year of operations, The Hub is positioned and ready to step up and expand its good work.  Your support is greatly appreciated!

Thank you!
